When I first bought Breeze a harness 2 years ago, I thought I was making an informed decision. I listened to the recommendations of others, did my research, and purchased the Comfortflex harness - which still remains my favourite harness today. Lately I've heard whisperings between my ears, always wondering if there's something better. I've switched boyfriends more often than I've switched harnesses. And lately there seems to be a lot of talk about Y-front harnesses. These magical harnesses that supposedly allow for full range lf motion and also cook your dinner for you. In true crazy dog lady fashion, "I must have one!", I declared. But which one? A simple google search gives me hundreds of brands, designs, styles. I spoke to everyone and their mom and finally narrowed it down to the final 3. The Original Fleece Line Harness had a punchline that sold me. Recommended by vets, chiros and behaviorist? Takes pressure off the neck and covered in soft fleece for comfort? Heck, I want one for myself. It is without doubt, a good harness, if not the most comfortable. Aside from its single design flaw that oddly has the back buckles facing forwards instead of backwards to meet the girth straps, it makes for a somewhat awkward, contorted position when fitted. But it's soooo soft and fluffy I just can't complain. The Hurtta padded Y-harness would be hands down my favourite if not for the fact that IT DOESN'T FIT and also it doesn't come in blue. What dog accessory doesn't come in blue?! (quite a lot, it seems) Such a shame the sizings are so convulated. If it fit Breeze properly it would be the Perfect Harness. Aside from the weird strap that faces inwards and hangs loose... I had to completely undo and redo all the buckling so the loose bit of strap would be on the outside rather than rubbing against the skin. Still, a lovely lightweight design with more than adequate space for shoulder blades to move freely means I just can't find it in me to cast it aside. :( I guess the winner in this category would inevitably be the Ruffwear Front Range harness. Sturdy, durable, and beautiful in blue, this harness is the Ferrari of dog harnesses. I actually have absolutely nothing bad to say about this harness other than, er, I wish it wasn't so bulky. But that's just a weird pet peeve of mine. Don't hold it against the harness. Plus it looks pretty dang good. Here's where you can buy 'em:
